POSITION : Senior Manager: Protected Area ExpansionCentre : Head Office (East London)Level : D4Purpose Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Manager: Protected Area Expansion will ensure efficient and effective biodiversity relevant planning processes, to guide decision making on protected areas and ensure stakeholder engagement and integration. Furthermore, to support and facilitate the expansion of protected areas through stewardship and other agreements.
- A MSC Degree in Environmental Management/Conservation or relevant equivalent, and a minimum of 5 (five) years’ experience in a similar role.
- Driver’s license
- Sound understanding database Management and advanced knowledge of statistical programmes and GIS
- Key Performance Areas
Strategy development and implementation·: Provide input into provincial and national strategy regarding protected areas.
Declaration of protected areas·: Facilitate the legal rectification of under-protected components of the protected area system managed by ECPTA
Stewardship·: Facilitate and ensure discussions and negotiations are held with land owners in the priority areas.
Planning and advisory services·: Oversee and provide input into the process of technical/systematic conservational planning
Stakeholder Management and Engagement·: Provide support and assist with quality assurance, initiatives, reserve development, and job creation initiatives.
Financial Management and Budget planning: Engage with stakeholders and communities regarding land and claim issues, benefit sharing and access to resource
