The inaugural ceremony took place on the 12th of July 2014 at Guild Theatre, where 13 awards were presented and awarded to their respective winners with Zizo Beda as the first recipient of the “I Am Eastern Cape Award”.

The slogan: Be involved. Be proud. Be inspired. Drives to better and develop possible opportunities for investment in the area. These awards will lead to creation of seasonal and permanent employment to the host city or area. These awards are about bringing pride back to Eastern Cape citizens by creating a platform where they can see local talent being awarded and showcased in front of their eyes.

Simphiwe Mashexa Founder of BEATMagazineSA is very excited about the event including the positive impact it will have on local businesses in the province, and says that “These awards will have economic and development spin-offs to the Eastern Cape brand in a long-run”.

BEATMagazineSA Awards will be an event to remember and look forward to for many more years to come. With the focus of the event being recognizing those who spend effort and time building the Eastern Cape, surely a lot more of the provinces citizens will feel motivated to do more for the beloved Eastern Cape.
